Why DPB - Outdoor recreation and endurance sports have always been an amazing tool to help with my own mental health and well being, and I align personally with what DPB stands for and the projects they support. I especially like the water access project; I think public access to outdoor areas is super important.
Favorite challenge - Orient Point to Montauk Point 50 miler. It was just one of those runs where everything went right with nutrition/hydration and I felt good the whole day. The setting was really nice most of the time too, and I had my buddies on crew duty. All in all just a good time.
Most difficult challenge - Logistically, the Lighthouse to Lighthouse run was probably the most difficult. Just making sure I had the right stuff at the right times without crew access for longer periods. The sand on Fire Island also adds a lot of extra complications, physically and with your gear / foot maintenance.
Next objective - I don’t have anything set in stone right now, but I generally like to focus on objectives that feel fun, inspiring or creative. We’ll see - Shore to Shore to Shore on the Greenbelt Trail would be fun, and I eventually want to do the Paumanok Path when the time is right.
