Trip Report: I’ve been vacationing down in Avalon NJ for several years and always wanted to swim the length of the island. It’s nicknamed “7 mile beach.” I started on the south end of the island at Stone Harbor (at 122nd street) and set off to swim the whole length at 7:30am. I carried gels with me in my cap and placed a water bottle on the beach at the half way point and a few more gels to trade out. The water conditions were beautiful with a temp around 75 degrees. I should have started a little earlier because the lifeguards don’t allow swimming between stands after 9am. I made it 6 miles of swimming and then had to get out. I ran the final mile and finished in Avalon at the jetty.

Additional Details: Next time I’ll start earlier so I can swim the whole way!
