”I got dropped at Montauk Lighthouse at 6:45 am. After some stretching, I started my trek westward around 7 am with the sun rising behind me.

The initial goal at the moment wasn't the finish line; it was Montauk village. After that, it was finishing Montauk Highway, then the Napeague stretch, and so on.

Challenging myself to get through each leg so the full total wasn't so daunting. In my head, I kept repeating "any step forward was progress, no matter how small." I don't know where it's from, but in the moment, it made perfect sense.

Around 20 miles in, I had reached East Hampton Town. Though some calf tightness hit me on the Stretch, the newest obstacle were some blisters on the feet. This is where it went from a run to cycles of jogging and walking.

With 10 miles left, there was only one thing on the mind. Keep pushing. East Hampton High School, 2 Holes of Water Road, 114, Pierson High School... Line 'em up and knock 'em down all the way to the finish line.” - Duncan Bennett

Additional Details: “The longest run I have ever planned and set out to do was 13 miles. This more than doubled that. Though more planning and training would have benefitted me tremendously the feeling of attempting and completing it is triumphant enough. You never know your limits if you never test them.” - Duncan Bennett
